Eleições federais e salsichas

Os australianos estão votando para escolher o primeiro ministro.

Mas eles são muito engraçados. Gente, australiano é muito engraçado!

Os títulos das matérias nos jornais impressos, os repórteres falando na TV, os comerciais, o jeito MAIS EASY GOING IMPOSSÍVEL das pessoas na rua... Isso aqui é um barato.

E é tudo MUITO irônico.

E nas eleições não poderia ser diferente. Até o Google Australia entrou na onda e fez um maps especial pra dizer onde tem salsicha de graça nos locais de votação. E isso virou mais notícia do que o resultado (super empatado).

Aí fui eu tentar entender de qual é da salsicha e tive essa conversa sobre eleições para os curiosos sobre o tema:

eu - Did you vote?
amigo australiano - Yes

eu -  Is it compulsory?
aa - Sort of

eu - What you mean?
aa -  If you are enrolled you have to, if you are not you dont have to


eu - And what is this talk about sausages and vote?
(sounds ironic and fun)
aa -  Hahaha some politicians has people cookig sausages to try and get people to vote for them

eu -  Do they really get votes from this?
aa -  Probably no. But it was so close that if they could change one or 2 it could make a difference

eu - But it's not automatic. Is it?  It will take some days to decide, no?
aa -  Its too close. Normally we know the next day but right now it is too close to know. Also being enrolled to vote is not automatic

eu - Did you eat something while voting? Hahah
aa -  No i didnt hahaha

eu - Do you have other options instead of choose someone? Can you go there to say that you don't want none of them? Or that you agree with the majority?
aa -  You can do whats called a donkey vote where you don't write anything on it
